Cavitation of centrifugal pumps - a thing of the past

The MDM scavenging pump

One of the biggest problems with centrifugal pumps comes with cavitation, which can damage the pumps. This was also the case for a big Dairy company in the northern Netherlands. To solve the cavitation problems and the stalling of the pumps when dealing with air inclusions MDM Pumps Ltd (founded in 1922) developed a principle in 1952. This principle is based on current, volumes and speeds.

What really is remarkable is the fact that a non-hygienic vent valve is no longer needed, which normally is a source of big pollution.
